How To Choose The Most Magnificent Colors For Your Wedding

Color plays a very big part in the look and feel of your wedding. Lots of color displayed everywhere can really make your beautiful white wedding dress stand out. A more neutral palette with touches of color here and there can also be gorgeous with a wonderful flow.

Your color choice will be evident in many different aspects of the wedding: bridesmaid dresses, stationary, florals, table decorations, favors, groomsmen accessories, and possibly even the wedding cake. Some brides even like to pull the wedding color into their own fashion with the accessories like a sash or jewelry. There is an infinite number of choices to pick from, so today Venus Bridal has a few tips to help you narrow them down.

Stick with what you love
If you have had a favorite color your entire life, so much so that your friends immediately think of you when that color is mentioned, then that one is the obvious choice. A wedding celebrates love, and surrounding yourself with things that you love only makes sense. Then your only decision will be which shades to use, and if you will add in a few complementary colors.

For those of you that don't think you have a favorite color, take inspiration from the things you have around you regularly. Open your closet and take notice of what colors pop up the most, or look around your home and see if one particular color keeps catching your eye. If you love the beach, go for ocean blues and sandy browns, or if you prefer the country, lean towards earthy tones like that of the trees and flowers found there.

Convey a feeling
The use of color is an excellent way to set the mood for your special day. Light, airy pastels seem romantic and sweet, while bolder, bright shades give off a livelier vibe. Red can make you think passion, yellow - warmth and happiness, and blues are often serene. Don't feel like you have to stick with one feeling throughout the day. Use romantic shades of a color during the ceremony, then take that same color and jazz it up with darker shades to add excitement to the reception.

Take cues from the venue
Some wedding venues are like big, blank slates before you begin decorating, but there are quite a few that already have a main color scheme in place. If it's a color that you like the look of, that will work perfectly. If it's a color you can't stand, you may want to consider looking for a different venue. Initially, you will want your decorations to blend well with the decor that is already set in the room. For weddings taking place outdoors, let the nature around you inspire the colors that you choose.

Borrow from the season
Even if your wedding will not be an outdoor one, nature can still be a wonderful inspiration for the colors that you choose. Warm colors in the fall, bright whites and metallic shades in the winter, delicate pastels in spring, and bright, sunny hues in the summer. Holidays are wonderful places to turn to influence your decision too. Reds and greens around Christmas, or even deep purples and blues. New Year's Eve weddings may be done in a formal way with blacks, silvers, and golds. Valentine's Day could have romantic pinks or bold, sexy reds.

At the end of the day, you really don't need to overthink it. Keep your eyes open for colors that draw your attention when you are out and about during the day. Once you take notice of that, your color scheme will begin to emerge. This wedding is for both the bride and the groom, so work together to find the colors that you both want to incorporate into this special day.

Once the decision is made, you'll be ready when the bridesmaid dress shopping begins. Venus Bridal has a large selection of colors, fabrics, and styles to choose from. Many of the color choices that we offer work beautifully together if you want to incorporate the mismatched bridesmaid look. Our dress color charts may even help to inspire your final color choice. It's definitely worth a look!

A Lovely Variety of Wedding Dress Necklines

The neckline on your wedding dress is a very important factor. Each one is flattering to a different body type, and finding the right style for your particular size and shape can make a world of difference. Below you will find explanations for many of the most popular bridal gown necklines that are offered from Venus Bridal

Strapless
This type of dress is exactly as it sounds, there are no straps holding up the bodice. It is a very popular choice among brides, and can be found with either a sweetheart or straight-across top to the bodice.

Illusion
From a distance, it may appear as if the neckline on these gowns is high, but it is actually sheer material over another type of neckline, giving the illusion of more dress than is actually there. It can add a more modest look to an otherwise daring neckline.

Sweetheart
This neckline is named for the fact that it resembles the top of a heart. It is the perfect design to accentuate cleavage, yet with a very romantic feel. It can be found with or without straps, and sometimes with a sheer overlay.

V-Neck
The "V" shape of this neckline can offer a small dip or a longer, plunging one. It can often create the illusion of height, but may make the chest appear smaller.

Scoop
This is very flattering to nearly every body shape. The neckline is U-shaped, and on some bridal gowns, the scoop will continue to the back of the dress.

Bateau
Sitting a little higher than many bridal gown necklines, this one follows the natural curve of the collarbone. It appears very elegant and works well on both sleeveless dresses and those with sleeves.

Jewel
A jewel neckline is similar to that of a t-shirt. It is round and usually sits near the base of the throat. Some dresses with this type of neckline can make you appear bustier than usual.

Off-The-Shoulder
This gown is excellent for highlighting your shoulders and collarbone. The neckline sits just below the shoulders, offering a little more support than a strapless gown by covering part of the upper arm.

Just like with the wedding dress silhouette, when you go shopping for a bridal gown, try on many different neckline styles. Once you find your favorite, that will help your consultant to narrow down the choices that she shares with you. Eventually, you will discover the perfect fashion combination for your personal style and the search for your dream wedding dress will be successful.

Venus Bridal offers an excellent variety of stunning, fashionable bridal gowns for every woman. You can browse our collections online, then click on the "Where To Buy" tab when you are ready to try on a few on. It will direct you to a bridal boutique that carries the Venus Bridal line closest to you.

Wedding Fashion Tips for In-between the Gown Purchase & the Wedding Day

It is best to pick your beautiful wedding dress up from the store when you're not fighting against the elements, you want to make walking with your gown to your car as easy as possible and have a designated space in your car that will keep your gown safe and clean. You want as few opportunities as possible for something to happen to your gown between picking it up and wearing it. Once the dress is in your possession, Venus Bridal has a few tips so that you can keep it in pristine shape until ceremony time. We've got a few other pre-wedding fashion tips for you too.

Carefully Hang Your Dress
Store your bridal gown in a cool, dry place away from light and extreme temperature changes, you want to use the closet or area that has the least amount of traffic. Hang it from the loops provided inside the dress, not by the straps, and do not leave it in a plastic garment bag. If you need to cover the material while it is hanging, use some type of breathable fabric or a light sheet.

Break In The Shoes
A brand new pair of shoes can be stiff and uncomfortable when you first wear them. Don't take the chance of having to wear unforgiving shoes all day at your wedding. Break them in by wearing them around the house for short periods of time before the wedding day.

You may want to wear them to the rehearsal so that you can get used to walking on the ground at the venue, but take them off and carefully put them away once rehearsal is over. It is also wise to pack a backup pair of pretty shoes in case of a broken heel on the wedding day, and a comfortable pair to change into if your feet need a break.

Prepare For The Wedding Day
There are a few things that you can do before the wedding day to prepare for certain things that will happen. One is to make sure that the clothes you will be getting ready in can be removed without messing up your hair and makeup. Wear something like a button-up shirt or a robe. Also, have a wedding day emergency kit packed and ready for anything that could come up, like spills to the dress or excessive wrinkles to the fabric.

You may want to have a trial run at trying to use the restroom wearing your gown, but only if you can do so without damaging or spilling on the dress. Make sure that someone that will be near you all day long knows exactly how to bustle your dress. This is easy with instruction, but difficult to figure out without help. Your dress shop can show your mother or maid of honor how to do this properly at one of your appointments.

Plan The Timing
The ceremony and reception aren't the only parts of your wedding day that need a timeline planned out. Be sure to start getting ready early enough in the day that you have plenty of time to not rush, and figure in a little extra down-time between photos and the ceremony beginning to rest and refresh before everything gets started.

Traveling With the Dress
If you are not able to hang the dress safely in the vehicle that is transporting it to the wedding, make enough room to lay it flat in a back seat or cargo area. If it must be folded, use white tissue paper around it and in-between folds to help reduce wrinkling. If you are traveling further than a short car trip to your wedding, that is much more involved, but the main thing to remember in that case is to never let the dress leave your sight.

It's not difficult to keep your wedding dress in excellent condition before the ceremony. It just takes a little extra care and attention to detail. The more prepared that you are before the wedding, the smoother everything will go. Venus Bridal will provide you with the most timelessly beautiful bridal gown for your wedding day, and hopefully the tips above will help you to get it to the wedding looking its very best.

Wedding Dresses - More Than Just White

Venus Bridal, wedding dresses, bridal gowns
Ivory White
People expect to see brides in white when they walk down the aisle. Many times the wedding dress that they assume is white is actually one of the many shades that only appear white to the untrained eye. Venus Bridal offers many of our bridal gowns in a few different shades.

Bright white is not an easy color for most women to pull off. Many skin tones can be overpowered by the stark color. Choosing a nearly-white shade for your wedding dress will allow you to find a color that will bring your skin tone alive and show off its natural glow. Below we have listed a few of the different shades of white that you will find while bridal gown shopping, as well as the skin tones that they most often flatter.

Bright White
This is the whitest white that you will find. Fabrics that are stark white nearly glow, which makes it unflattering to many skin tones. This is the hardest shade to wear. The brightness can cause your skin to appear to lose color. Usually, only women with darker skin tones can pull off a bright white gown.

Natural White
Also sometimes referred to as silk white, this color is a shade off of bright white due to the natural fibers of the material that the dress is made out of. It may still appear to be a bright white in photographs, but it is a lot more flattering to many skin tones. You can really only see the difference in bright and natural whites when they are held next to each other.

Ivory
This shade is extremely flattering on a wide variety of skin tones, and you will find a lot of varying shades in the ivory family. Hints of yellow undertones in some ivories will give the dress color a creamy appearance. Other ivories may have a pinker tint to them. Fair to medium skin tones look wonderful in most ivory gowns.

Champagne
This "white" will have slight pink or gold undertones. It is lighter than the drink it is named for, yet close to the darkest shade of ivory. Olive skin tones look beautiful in this shade, as do other darker skin tones.

Pops of Color
There is absolutely no rule that says you have to wear any shade of white when you get married. You are free to wear any color that makes your heart happy. There are plenty of brides that go for a mostly "white" wedding dress, but add pops of color with their accessories, like a bridal sash or shoes.

Venus Bridal, wedding dresses, bridal gowns
Ivory with a romantique/silver color accent
When you begin shopping for a wedding dress, hold the different shades up to your skin to find the one that looks the most flattering on you. The shade of your bridal gown will make a huge difference in the final look, and simply going a shade lighter or darker could completely change how you feel about a specific dress.

Venus Bridal offers a lovely variety of wedding dress shades, styles, shapes, fabrics, and so much more. We strive to create a diverse mixture of designs so that every woman will have lots of gowns to choose from. Everyone deserves to look and feel their most glamorous on their wedding day.

Bridal Belts & Waist Sashes Take Your Wedding Dress to Another Level

Once you have decided on the perfect silhouette for the best wedding dress for your body, it's time to accessorize that bridal gown and bring some of your own personal style to the overall look. One excellent accessory to do exactly that is one of the beautiful bridal belts or waist sashes from Venus Bridal

Made for each other
When chosen correctly, this particular wedding dress accessory will look as if it is a part of the original dress rather than an added piece. A very large percentage of brides begin the personalization of their bridal gown with a lovely accent around the waist. The key, as with any accessory, is to find elements that tie into your dress's overall look. Find a belt with details that flow with the gown's fabric and accents.

Glamorous upgrade
The simple addition of a bridal belt or waist sash can do many things. For a plain gown, it can add a touch of sparkle and bling, and for dress that is all lace from top to bottom, it can elegantly break up the pattern. These accessories are wonderful for accentuating your waist and bust too, depending on where you decide to position the belt. Some styles can even give you a longer, thinner appearance.

Add a pop of color
If you happen to be the type of bride that would like to add a touch of color to the traditional white/ivory wedding dress, a sash is an excellent way to do this. It brings a touch of fun and whimsy to your style, and makes a beautiful background to all types of other accents, like beads, rhinestones, flowers, and lace.

Truly make it your own
Two different women may decide on the exact same wedding dress, but the way that they choose to accessorize it can dramatically alter the final look, making it their very own, one-of-a-kind gown. Where sparkly belts can add drama, lace can bring a romantic feel, and flowers may give the dress a bit of vintage charm. The sash or belt around the waist of your bridal gown will help to convey the look and feel that you are going for.

Venus Bridal has your look!
The timeless wedding dress styles that we have to offer are matched in beauty by our magnificent bridal belts and waist sashes. You will be able to find the perfect style you are striving for from our Venus Bridal collections. No matter which accessories that you decide on, they will be perfect because they are all yours.

The feeling of romance.. the essence of glamour.

5 Tips for Finding the Most Fantastic Flower Girl Dresses

Venus Bridal not only has the most beautiful special occasion gowns for every woman in your wedding, but also fantastic dresses for the tiniest little lady in your bridal party too. The adorable flower girl dresses that we offer are sure to have everyone at your wedding sighing "Awwwwwww!"

Little Maiden by Venus Bridal is a line of sweet and whimsical children's gowns that any little girl would be thrilled to wear. There are a few factors to consider when you are deciding on the type of flower girl dress to use at your wedding. The following tips will be very helpful in picking out the perfect one that you and your flower girl will both love.

Comfort

Children, in general, are not famous for their patience. If your flower girl has to wear a dress that she is not comfortable in, it won't be too far into the wedding when you hear all about it, and so will your guests! Make sure that the flower girl dress that you put her in is something she will want to wear all night long.

The material should be soft, not scratchy at all. Also, pay close attention to the length. The age and maturity of the child will make a difference in the length of gown she is able to maneuver easily.

Season

The time of year and temperatures expected should play a big part in the flower girl dress decision, especially if any of the wedding will be outdoors. If the gown is too hot in the summer, your flower girl probably won't have it on very long.

A jacket can be worn in cooler months, but unless you have something to match the dress, a regular coat will hide that gorgeous gown you have picked out. Match the fashion to the expected weather.

Color

Some brides choose to put their flower girls in all white, while many use this piece of fashion to add a pop of the wedding color to the ceremony. Flower girl dresses are available with a colored skirt overlay on a white gown, a sweet colored sash to accent the dress, or you can go with a solid color instead of any white at all.

Budget

Kids are expensive to raise, so be very aware of your flower girl's family's financial situation. Pick out something that fits into a price range that is sensible for them, or offer to pick up part of the tab. Our Little Maiden collection is filled with affordable flower girls dresses that can work perfectly withing many budgets.

Personality

The flower girl dress will reflect the style of the wedding that you are throwing, but it should also fit the personality of the little lady wearing it. Knowing how your flower girl acts on a daily basis and her general outlook on life are both great factors in finding the perfect wedding day fashion for her.

When you are ready to find something beautiful for the littlest lady in your wedding to wear, let us help you out. We put every ounce of love and care into our flower girl dresses as we do our fashionable wedding dresses and other special occasion gowns. Visit our website to find a Venus Bridal retailer near you for access to the most amazing dresses for every woman in your wedding.

A Rainbow of Color Choices for Your Wedding

There are a few different methods for choosing the colors that you will be using for your wedding. One thing that should factor into that decision is the color that you want your bridesmaids to wear. Venus Bridal has a very large selection when it comes to available colors for our beautiful bridesmaid gowns.

The trend in the past was to always put bridesmaids in the exact same dress. That look can still be beautiful today, but there are many brides that choose to put their bridal party in different looks with a coordinating theme. This could be a variety of styles all in the same color, matching gowns in a variety of complimentary colors, or a mix of varying shades of one main color.

Mixing Styles

Not everyone looks good in every dress, so allowing your bridesmaids to wear different styles is a good way to make sure they all look their best and feel comfortable. You will want to make sure there is one unifying element, like color, to tie all of the looks together.

Keep in mind that different fabrics, even when dyed with the same, may vary slightly in color. Compare swatches closely before ordering bridesmaid dresses, or insist that all of the gowns be made from the same fabric. That way you know they will all match when the orders arrive.

Mixing Colors

Another option is to pick one style for all of the bridesmaids to wear, but put each on them in a different color, or varying shades of one color. The important thing is that they all compliment each other. Consult a color wheel to refresh your art class memories about which ones work the best together. You can also use the season or the wedding venue to pull color inspiration.

The Rainbow of Venus

You will see the wide variety of color choices for your bridesmaid dresses on our Venus Bridal website color chart. There are far too many to list here in the blog, but you will see names and samples on that page. Please realize, though, that depending on the way you are viewing our site, colors may vary slightly due to different screen resolutions.

Use the website as a guideline to help you with your main choices, but visit one of our authorized Venus Bridal retailers to see fabric swatches in person for the most accurate color matching. The colors that you choose for you wedding can help to tell a story and set the mood. Once you figure out the way you want the overall event to look, Venus Bridal is here to make sure your wedding day fashions fit into that picture perfectly.

The feeling of romance.. the essence of glamour.
